Skipper's Smokehouse has been Tampa's ramshackle, oak-shaded outdoor music venue and oyster bar since 1980, when a pair of Air Force buddies turned a rustic roadside spot into one of the Bay Area's favorite dining-and-music hangs. The Skipperdome stage hosts blues, reggae, and zydeco under the trees while the kitchen smokes everything from grouper to gator.
Beloved for its blackened-grouper Reuben and its free-spirited, under-the-oaks vibe, Skipper's is a genuine Tampa original — part seafood joint, part roadhouse, part music institution.
